Education
I am certified as a general education elementary school teacher, special education teacher, and a supervisor. I have a Bachelors Degree from University of Dayton and a Masters Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. I am currently in the process of earning a certificate through FDU for teaching reading to students with dyslexia. This approach is multi-sensory and based on Orton-Gillingham.
Experience
I have been teaching elementary school for 19 years. I've tutored for 25 years. I've worked with students ranging in age from grade 1 - high school seniors. I am currently focusing on teaching reading to students with dyslexia. I enjoy tutoring especially when I can create lessons that are specific to your child's individual needs. When I tutor, I try to match your child's interests to what they need to learn. I also find that I create a lot of materials, so they can be specific to your child's needs. I've helped students complete their summer enrichment/reading activities. Sometimes this is helpful to take the pressure off parents and make sure summer work is completed.
